My Perseus Impressions

My impressions on the Perseus SDR is published on kongsfjord.no. It's a bit of a work in progress since I plan to update it should there be software updates or if someone finds errors in the article.

Another thoughtful and thorough receiver review by Bjarne! Well done, and enjoyable reading.

You commented on the manually-set receiver bandwidths changing to the defaults whenever you change modes and then return to your original mode.

Nico, the designer of Perseus, has said that this was an oversight on his part, and it will be corrected in a future software version. I think he also said you will be able to define a set of custom bandwidths for each mode, but I'm not positive on that.

I too would like a way to reduce the "RF" gain when using the AGC Off possition. (It's not truly an RF gain due to the radio's SDR architecture. Ones and zeros are all that is being manipulated in the digital realm. I remember this topic of SDR and gain being discussed at length in a FlexRadio e-mail reflector last year.)

Best wishes,

Guy Atkins

Thanks Guy.
Yes, I am aware of Nico's comment and I will be happy to remove that part in a hopefully near future... ;-)
